It all starts in the rough mill (or “get out” area) under the supervision of Tou Thao, a Northwest Millwork employee since 1982, whose experienced eye allows him to anticipate the grain and color characteristics of each board while in its rough stage. A lot of material is rejected at this early stage, since only the best raw material produces the finest finished products. Tou expertly selects each piece for color and grain with its end use in mind before running it through the straight line saw and sending it along to one of our production shops.
