Our History

Back in 1945, Northwest Millwork began manufacturing architecturally designed millwork in the same 40,000 square foot facility in Seattle in which we now operate. Over thirty years ago the company expanded into Hawaii, now a major market and area of expertise in service. Over the last six decades, Northwest Millwork has built its reputation on exceptional quality, reliability and outstanding service.

In 1999, after running the company successfully for many years, John Carlson handed down the business to his children, whose backgrounds in millwork and the construction industry combine to form an excellent partnership. Coming from a long line of woodworkers himself, the legacy of John’s can-do attitude, ingenuity and skill lives on at Northwest Millwork. And now, a third generation has joined in the tradition of manufacturing the finest in custom architectural millwork.

We owe our longevity and success to the many years of dedication from our crew — a core of talented craftsmen backed by a team of dedicated estimators, project managers and support staff. Our history of traditional craftsmanship has paved the way to our future, with a dedication to investment in cutting edge technology.
